How to book the best vacation property experience:
When to visit Fripp Island & When to book:
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Impeccable 4-bedroom home on Fripp Island with a screened-in porch, elevator, and exercise room has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
