Vacation rental tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Reserve your Beaufort, SC vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

- To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 718 Swordfish Road - New to VRBO! Resort Access Included! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. - If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective.
