Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Find your best deal:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Beaufort, SC trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Tabby on the Tee - Four Bedroom House, Sleeps 15 has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Beaufort, SC beach you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
