Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.

  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
