Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Fripp Island. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Gorgeous 3 Bedroom Golf/Beach Cottage, Includes a Golf cart, 28 Davis Love has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Beaufort, SC attraction you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
