Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Fripp Island. Reserve your Beaufort, SC rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanview home @ Cabana Club with 6 seat golf cart and club cards has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
