Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
