Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing the bestrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Golf Cart included - 21 Davis Love has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
