Tips to get the perfect Fripp Island rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Beaufort, SC vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Serendipity - Golf Cart Included has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
