Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Beaufort, SC area:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Views! - 449 Tarpon Blvd - New to VRBO! Resort Access Included! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Beaufort, SC destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
