Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in Fripp Island. To get the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, SC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean view, beach access, new screened porch. Best location on the island! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
