How to find the best vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Beaufort, SC rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 87 Ocean Creek - Canal w/Shared Dock has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If not, call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
