Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by having your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Walking Distance to Beach! Resort Access Included - New to VRBO has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Beaufort, SC destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
