Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beachfront home with expansive deck and direct beach access has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
