Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home in Fripp Island:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. **The Caddy's Shack** Golf Cart Included and Club Cards Optional has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
