How to find the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Port Royal. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Cool Coastal Cottage - 2 miles from Parris Island - 1 mile From Sands Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Beaufort, SC attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
