Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Port Royal & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Port Royal. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental home in Port Royal:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Perfect Retreat - 10 mins to Parris Island + Walk to Coffee Shops & Restaurants has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, SC attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
