Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summertime is high season in Beaufort. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachy Bungalow- walk downtown, close to MCAS, and Parris Island! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
