Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Beaufort, SC rental home:
- Summer is high season in Fripp Island. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the right Beaufort, SC rental home:

- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
