- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
