Fripp Island vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Beaufort, SC attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Amazing canal\/marsh views. Close to everything! Includes 2 cards & golf cart. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual Beaufort, SC attraction you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
