Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Beaufort, SC rental & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Beaufort, SC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- First, have your group choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Fripper Upper: 1st Floor, Just for TWO, MARSH Views, FREE Coffee/Tea/Creamer, Club Cards Available! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
