Vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit Beaufort & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Deep water paradise! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
