  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.

  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
