Port Royal rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.

Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home.
