Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 446 Tarpon Blvd - New to VRBO! Resort Access Included! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
