Rental home tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in Fripp Island. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental home:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Private, Golf Cart Included, Pets Considered Sea Island Escape, 2 Pelican Cove has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
