Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the bestrental:
- Start by having your family decide on dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. New Listing - Historical Home in Mossy Oaks has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
