Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home in the Beaufort, SC area:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Charming 4-Bedroom Home, Walk to Downtown Beaufort & Bay Street, Perfect for Families! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
