Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, SC rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to select the best rental in the Beaufort, SC area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sweet Magnolia Sandy Feet Retreat - 4 Porches! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
