Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Beaufort, SC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Fripp Island:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Secluded 2 Bedroom Treehouse w/Spectacular Marsh Views, 873 Fiddlers Ridge has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
