Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family agree to dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Palmetto Cottage - Downtown Beaufort - Minutes to Parris Island! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
