How to book the best Beaufort, SC vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Beaufort, SC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the best rental home:

  • To start, have your family agree to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Palmetto Cottage - Downtown Beaufort - Minutes to Parris Island! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
