Strategies to get the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer months are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Beaufort, SC restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. CRESCENT MOON: Perfect for families visiting for MILITARY GRADUATION! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
