Our top Beaufort, SC rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Beaufort, SC restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. FrippinFun - Three Bedroom House, Sleeps 8 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
