Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Beaufort, SC vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Bright Dreamy Cottage-Walkable to Water & Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
