Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Cottage in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort Historic Area 5-min walk to River! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
