Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Waterfront Condo Conveniently Located to MCRD Beaufort and Port Royal has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
