Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing yourrental home:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican Place - Golf cart included 704 Swordfish has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
