Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in the Beaufort, SC area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Newly Renovated LowCountry Cottage with Marsh Views - Sleeps 6 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's a particular Beaufort, SC destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
