Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in Fripp Island. To find the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Hyp-Nautic Views, Cozy 1 BR\/1.5 BA Condo has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
