Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Fripp Island. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Hyp-Nautic Views, Cozy 1 BR/1.5 BA Condo 729 N Hampton Court has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
