Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Beaufort, SC trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Beaufort, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Cottage On Carteret in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
