Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Beaufort, SC area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose yourrental:

  • Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Coastal Elegance. Poolside. Just steps from the beach! Cards available. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
