Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the best value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Fripp Island. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation rental in the Beaufort, SC area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Relaxing beachfront condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
