Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your best deal:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Beaufort, SC area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in Fripp Island:
- First, have your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Newly Updated Sunsuite! Resort Access Always Included! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, call the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
