Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your Beaufort, SC vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose the best Beaufort, SC vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Quality and Cozy for Four. Pets - Friendly! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Beaufort, SC rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Beaufort, SC attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
