Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Beaufort, SC area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Carriage House Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
