Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Beaufort, SC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Start by having your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beaufort Cottage in Pigeon Point Near Downtown Beaufort and Paris Island has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
