Vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Fripp Island. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental home:
- First, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Bahia Mar - Fripp Island - Directly Across from Beach Access has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
