Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Beaufort, SC area. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Beaufort, SC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Beaufort, SC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the right Beaufort, SC rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. STEPS TO SAND ~ BEACH SUNSUITE EFFICIENCY ~ CENTER ISLAND has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If not, call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
