Tricks and tips to get the perfect Beaufort, SC rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Beaufort, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Port Royal Paradise (minutes from Parris Island and downtown Beaufort) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
